We've written in the past about various Palm/HP trademark applications that have come and gone (the PalmPad mark is officially dead in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; the Myte and Gyst remain alive along with some other interesting possibilities). On June 3, 2011, HP added another interesting application to the mix: webOS Pivot. According to the USPTO Web site, the mark refers to:

"Retail store services featuring computer software provided via the internet and other computer and electronic communication networks; retail store services featuring computer software for use on handheld mobile digital electronic devices and other consumer electronics."

Could this be the new name for the App Catalog? The branding for in-app purchases? A new point-of-sale system? Something else entirely? Whatever it is, we look forward to hearing more about the service to which this mark refers.
