Now that webOS 1.4.5 is finally starting to hit the States (for Sprint users, anyway), many of us finally have access to some great PDK based applications from independent developers.  Hit the break to see a few apps we think everyone with 1.4.5 should take a look at, and make sure to take a peek at Palm's excellent Hot Apps leader board throughout the remainder of the PDK Hot Apps contest for continuing inspiration on what apps you should buy net.

Multi-Touch Piano, $1.99.

Competing platforms have had applications like these for awhile, and it's great to finally be able to download them from the App Catalog.  With support for up to 4 simultaneous key presses, great piano samples and fantastic responsiveness, this is one app that every musician should have.

Galcon $2.99.

Galcon is highly addictive and fun.  The object here is to produce ships, take over planets, and defeat your enemies.  The gameplay is never complex though there's enough strategy to keep it immersive that it'll keep you hooked.

VisualBoy Advance, $4.99.

VisualBoy Advance is a full-on Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance emulator.  It's a blast to relive the early days of portable gaming with this emulator, but it can sometimes be tricky to track down the roms of the games you're looking to play.  You can play in full-screen mode while utilizing the hardware keyboard that's standard on every webOS based phone, or you can use on-screen controls that emulate the Gameboy hardware of old.

Buka, $1.99

Another title in the "simple but fun" category.  In this cheeky game you control Buka, a space-faring blob with bad grammar, as you try to avoid and destroy enemies and collect points.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds hasn't hit the App Catalog just yet -- it should be here in the next few days -- so make sure that it's on your "buy" list when it does.
